What is the word for being a Black journalist and having a pitch rejected for being “unimportant” or “too niche” and then watching millions of people fall in love with said story a little later, once the same topic is covered by a major print outlet or turned into a documentary?
This happens in TV too. BIPOC writers deserve better. The amount of labor we expend going into a pitch. We have to have a strong story, compelling characters, relevant themes AND prove why these characters aren’t niche but universal & deserve to have their story told. https://t.co/G2nPQTtJhy
