The disaster now consuming India is playing out vividly on social media, with Twitter feeds and WhatsApp groups broadcasting hospitals’ pleas for oxygen and medicines, and families’ desperate searches for beds in overwhelmed Covid-19 wards. https://t.co/xyXHrByL3i
Just a liberal conspiracy, right? This is what happens when precautions aren’t taken. https://t.co/RtXySrGhA3
I cry for the India 🇮🇳. Brutal epidemic ravaging the country, and hospitals are completely overwhelmed. A staggering 300,000 cases—and possibly 10x underdiagnosis means maybe ~3 million actual cases a day. #COVID19 https://t.co/7M9P6P78HV
“Scam-demic” created by the media, huh? Exhibit A why we did, what we *tried* to do in the US. This is what happens when you let Covid run unmanaged. https://t.co/YoShyNHvep
I don’t wish ill will on anyone, but when your words are responsible for others getting sick, I feel zero sympathy when *you* get sick. https://t.co/Bq6rqRik8e
Peter Navarro calls COVID-19 the "Fauci Virus" calling Fauci "the father of" the virus and accusing him of allowing China and the People's Liberation Army to "genetically engineer" COVID-19. Host Rachel Campos-Duffy lets it slide. https://t.co/5pINTVc8Pc
People *actually* believe this. https://t.co/mT2UwPmwNJ
We know its a race between vaccinations & variants Well, despite phenomenal vaccination rates, variants pulled ahead this week Infections up in 34 states Test positivity up in 38 Hospitalizations up in 20 Holding tight until more folks vaccinated key to winning this race https://t.co/15SbgPx5JU
34 states saw cases rise last week - hospitalizations lag cases. The next two weeks will be critical to see if vaccinations can outpace the stupidity of folks acting like this is over / mutations. https://t.co/QjV0WsON3K
1. People acting like this is over 2. Mutations 3. People demonizing science / experts like Fauci https://t.co/sF2oYWzgcT
Got on an elevator without a mask. Guy with his wife demands I put one on. I say I don't have it but you'll be fine, calm down. He stops the elevator and storms off, calling me "disrespectful." It's true. I am. I'm not going to respect your paranoia. Get a grip.
What an asshole - “I smoked in a cab with someone and they got mad / got out, and *they’re* the one that is a jerk” https://t.co/C5ZcPObQO1
Both liberals and conservatives suffer from misperceptions about the pandemic — in opposite directions. “Republicans consistently underestimate risks, while Democrats consistently overestimate them,” - @jtrothwell & Desai. https://t.co/Q5Tio0knXB
Great thread - facts are facts. Unfortunately, each side cherrypicks one data point / individual study, to support their own opinions. Same with climate change, economics, and even race. Baseball is a good analogy - one good game, or season, does not make a player. https://t.co/o3YJnn4oYd
Sexual assault is real. Victims should be heard, offenders prosecuted. Individuals fabricate stories in pursuit of financial gain often. Their victims should be heard, and those offenders also prosecuted. I simply hope we keep this same energy with the truth.
