Fun Fact

Only 26% are due to the inclusion of "please RT!" in the tweet.

this is how vienna's developing a new, dense, walkable transit adjacent district.

massive park. connections to adjacent streets. dense perimeter blocks w/ ample semi-public and private courtyards. kindergartens. community amenities. loads social housing. jobs. cafes. schools... https://t.co/XIlDeiLFBo

Amazing how casual "we will jail our political opponents when we get power" has gotten on the right. I wonder if that suggests any troubling behavior down the road ... https://t.co/yn3UtZMhvZ

Seems like we should have figured this out when Trump botched a pandemic, got 600K Americans killed, and maintained effectively the same approval rating through it all. Nothing matters any more. https://t.co/82flVlX6GC

Isn't the Occam's razor explanation for this just polarization? Everyone is fixed & has chosen a side; events no longer move anyone. Was true for Trump, is true of Biden. Not sure you need all this additional analysis. https://t.co/RcXVyKDQzT

"Asked if he would consider including some smaller counties, Toth replied, 'What’s the point? I mean, all the small counties are red.'" Subtle, these folks. https://t.co/9gnX7RaznR

For all the supposed "alarmism" of climate change activists, the vast majority of people do not understand how bad it's going to get. https://t.co/ovaae9UhFC

Every time I do a podcast I feel relieved yet again that Volts is powered entirely by subscribers & I don't have to read any mattress ads or talk with a straight face about how baked beans are the "center of the bar-b-quniverse."

The human brain is extraordinarily skilled in fooling itself that, in this or that particular situation, it's ok to a dick. Necessary, even. The job of morality is to hop in there at the end of that chain of self-justifying reasoning & say, "actually, no, don't be a dick."

I continue to believe that, as systems of morality go, "don't be a dick" gets you about 95% of what you need.

I don't get this. I've been the opposite -- absurdly solicitous & generous toward service workers of all kinds. How could you go through everything we've been through & conclude that being a dick is the way to go? wtf. https://t.co/OXSYqfmdhK

Might have just recorded the nerdiest Volts podcast yet, which regular listeners will realize is no small claim ...

One of the best things about striking out on my own & running my own newsletter is that I no longer have to even pretend to have any respect for the absurd, anachronistic play-acting that constitutes "objectivity" in mainstream journalism.

I just have absolutely no idea how to react to this passage from @feliciasonmez's lawsuit against the Washington Post: https://t.co/vQRCc9Nxz4 https://t.co/57pEfWJ14h

I guess I'm not a real journalist because I, too, have taken a side on sexual assault. (I'm against it.) https://t.co/iRUvv7kTrB

Quoted @lizcgoodwin

“In private calls with voting rights groups and civil rights leaders, White House officials and close allies of the president have expressed confidence that it is possible to ‘out-organize voter suppression’” https://t.co/EBGD2o9wDR

This is a dangerous illusion that serves only to ease the pressure on Manchin and Sinema. Dems cannot simply shrug & accept an increasingly tilted playing field. You can bet Rs wouldn't! https://t.co/fpWbmYNiI2

Gonna try one more time: anybody got a copy of this full report they could share? I really wanna read it, but not, like, $500 worth. https://t.co/9dMVH4bsT7
