You cannot reform the police. I’ve seen an effort to do so up close and from the inside, with a mayor and a federal government who were genuinely committed to major changes. The police always find a way to wriggle out of it. Every time. The concept is busted and must be defunded.
By my count this makes 5 reporters from different organizations that were detained tonight. Both reporters from @KNOCKdotLA and @ACatWithNews have still not been accounted for. https://t.co/O4bLDJfi0q
A neighborhood in lockdown. Hundreds of cops in riot gear. Reporters being zip-tied and detained. Protesters being kettled and arrested. This is a disgrace and it did not have to happen. It’s a shameful day for Los Angeles. https://t.co/upOIq02kkk
Right now in LA people are being attacked with rubber bullets, kettled, and arrested illegally. The crime? Trying to defend the homeless. This is why all cops are bad. Even the best one will follow orders and arrest these people who are just trying to help their community.
@SenWarren 1/3 You make the tax laws @SenWarren; we just follow them. If you don’t like the laws you’ve created, by all means, change them. Here are the facts: Amazon has paid billions of dollars in corporate taxes over the past few years alone.
I didn’t write the loopholes you exploit, @amazon – your armies of lawyers and lobbyists did. But you bet I’ll fight to make you pay your fair share. And fight your union-busting. And fight to break up Big Tech so you’re not powerful enough to heckle senators with snotty tweets. https://t.co/3vCAI93MST
More than 98% of Border Patrol arrests in Michigan and a small portion of Ohio targeted longtime Michigan residents of Latin American descent rather than people trying to illegally enter the U.S. from Canada, @ACLUofMichigan reports: https://t.co/3Kc7HBhETH @detroitnews
This has been going on for years. I am sick and tired of folks at all levels of government looking away. We should not be coordinating with an agency that is intentionally targeting our communities like this. I have said it and will again, #AbolishICE and their racist tactics. https://t.co/S4ThmMA8lo
“We’ve seeded something here…and it’s just taken off in all kinds of directions that we never could have predicted... It’s also part of .. giving volunteers a sense of ownership.” #politcsforallpeople #choosethefuture https://t.co/d9zwtHdmPO
It's one thing for Amazon to systematically choke to death the American retail and labor markets, but it feels altogether darker that they also insist the general public regards them as benevolent and generous for doing so, and that they are insulted by implications otherwise.
