Perhaps instead of Javid talking of ‘cowering’ he and Johnson could take a look at this … a leader taking on the anti-vaxxers by telling them their demand for ‘freedom’ actually means irresponsibility, egotism and relying on nurses and doctors to look after them when ill https://t.co/EEJarpgVGj

I was sitting in a café and watching when a small, white, ancient Peugeot parked behind my car, lightly scratching my left bumper. The people laughed (they saw UK plates) and I just left them to it. These days, tempers are so frayed— what was the point? My bumper isn’t pristine.

Life in a Boarding House, Eric Ravilious, 1930. A now lost mural: one of several painted by Ravilious and Edward Bawden at Morley College in #London. It was destroyed in the Blitz during #WW2. https://t.co/jMm0rATahq

Why do I love this so much? I love this. https://t.co/nfOumtuHuT

This is not my goat. (Also, it is a chamois and not anyone’s goat.) He lives in the middle of a roundabout. https://t.co/Q5sUeNU4Ms

I think the French have it right with the vaccine situation. Don't want to get vaccinated (or can't, a very small %)? Okay—but that means you can't go to a restaurant, a museum, a movie, school, etc.

This. So much this thread. https://t.co/gXl2I0kGrg

You people want proof sometimes. You think it’s all a funny joke. Chickens are extremely serious creatures. (The chickens are all upset today because the children harassed them.) Chickens. Yes. Good night to the chickens. https://t.co/qCEOwvSorQ

The Parisians have come to the mountains for a little holiday in their chalet. Two days in and they have marched down to the mayor to complain that the bells on the goats are too loud and that there are too many flies. (I am sniggering with the villagers. Bells and flies.)

I have to put the chickens to bed now. And that’s no metaphor.

I remember the band members gave me a recording of their songs so I could work out a part for myself. I literally fiddled.

It’s so weird how a former version of yourself will rise up a slap you with a fish sometimes.

I once played the fiddle in a band called The Black Flamingos in a bar called Meow Mix on the Lower East Side. We would sometimes cover I’m Your Venus etc. and I wore leathers & attitude (because the lights were so bright, couldn’t see anything). Ha, I just remembered. Lifetimes.

I dreamt I was inside Twitter, it was a place (a house, a stream, a stable? there were compartments or... troughs) and Roxane Gay was so kind, welcoming, and was cracking the best jokes. (The rest of the dream I can’t quite summon but it’s tugging at me.)

Got solicited for a story that, upon submission, turned out to be not immigrant enough. My story, mind you, is a tiny masterpiece, and if you're soliciting work from an immigrant writer, please don't assume that it'll have anything to do with the immigrant experience. Yikes.

This is vital— let people write what they want. https://t.co/k9nE5UpR8T
