Parties advocating such (without a confirmatory referendum) at the last election attracted fewer than 50% of the votes of those who voted but FPTP pushed the Tories easily over the line. It's a deceitful illusion.

I know EU cits who've put half a century's-worth of taxes in the UK Man's coffers with nary a vote in national elections.
