Fun Fact

Lady Gaga – the most followed Twitterer, with almost 78 million followers – gains followers faster than Twitter adds new accounts.

“This is the consistent function of racist ideas—and of any kind of bigotry more broadly: to manipulate us into seeing people as the problem, instead of the policies that ensnare them.” -@DrIbram

Jamie Dimon says if lawmakers plan to raise taxes he would want an itemized list of what the money would be spent on https://t.co/oXH7RPe0Wl

That’s funny, because Jamie Dimon didn’t give working people an itemized list of the school districts, public hospitals, infrastructure, or affordable housing projects he was helping defund when he pushed for the $2T GOP Tax Scam in 2017 w/ goodies for yacht and jet owners. 🤷🏽‍♀️ https://t.co/ecBOBaRmmA

Bipartisanship on police reform would be great, but not if it comes at the steep price of protecting the policy that has allowed police departments and unions to shield officers from full accountability for their misconduct: qualified immunity. My column: https://t.co/pujDbedj9i

The more useful question is to what degree does racism impact life outcomes and opportunities in the United States? And that question has a straight-forward answer: a huge amount. Every fundamental institution in American life yields racial disparities.

Subjective questions like “Is America a racist nation” are fairly useless. Some say yes, some say no but what they’re actually debating is how much racism is required for it to be a defining trait. Which is like asking how much you need to smile to qualify as cheerful.

For too long, America’s care workers, who are largely women of color, have not received the support they deserve. The American Jobs Plan will create a care infrastructure that will lift us all up. https://t.co/OwEIZraNaE

"A systemic problem within policing makes us all unsafe," says @unitethepoor's @RevDrBarber. "When you don't have any transparency and trust, we're all in tremendous danger." https://t.co/6UQUBRYf0q

America is not a racist country but if we teach our children about all the racist things this country has done they might think the country is racist is a helluva argument, I have to say.

@Toure @LeciaMichelle11 This is the worst type of #racism #Blacks turning on #Blacks. Just like in #Libya where blacks sell blacks. But these “#activists” don’t care! They just want the scalp of @TimScottSC so bad they’ll become traitors, selling him off https://t.co/6UIJOKOnC7

No the worst kind of racism is the systemic kind that prevents Black people from living full lives like, for example, the way Black people get prison for non-violent marijuana use or sales while white kids use with impunity and now sell legally in glitzy stores. https://t.co/udooYOloHN

Whenever I hear Republicans and pundits use the words “woke”, “Communist”, “Marxist” etc., they always sound like they heard from someone who heard from someone who said those things were bad. And their understanding of the terms and their usage reflects their 3rd hand knowledge.

Anyway, here’s the other thing I said that I think is more important😭: debating whether or not “America is racist” implies systemic racism is debatable. It ain’t 🤷🏾‍♀️ I’m not fighting someone else’s culture war-I’m trying to fight systemic racism. Thanks as always @11thHour! https://t.co/sAkUOQWwLe

Lots of people have an opinion about Tim Scott saying: “America is not racist country.” I don’t. I wanted to see if he was right. https://t.co/CHidyd68o5

Tim Scott said America is not racist. George Floyd, Alexander Brown, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor could not be reached for comment.

There is no way to avoid the fact that the politics of redistributive policy in the United States is racialized. Studiously avoiding anti-racist language or mentions of race period does not actually stop or defuse this dynamic, and may actually make the policies more vulnerable. https://t.co/YGZbt6ihJ6

Rush Limbaugh called the Affordable Care Act “reparations.” Pols should use the simplest language possible and make positive sum arguments but opponents will always frame arguments this way because it has been the most effective argument against them since the mid 20th century. https://t.co/Mo751a7yF3
