Fun Fact

Lady Gaga – the most followed Twitterer, with almost 78 million followers – gains followers faster than Twitter adds new accounts.

It bothers me when people described themselves as "socially liberal but fiscally conservative" and @hmcghee helped me understand why. Our discussion on why cutting programs so that Black people can't access them is at the core of what troubles the U.S. https://t.co/zEqsWfGEqa

Men still run everything. How do I know? I tried to live off women-run businesses for a week, and ended up with granola and stickers. https://t.co/6LWSTfG5Gh

This is a MUST read piece. Alana makes it very clear that men are still the economic actors in our culture. They control most money and make it. #WomenOwned https://t.co/GU5THHuKBO

So what I'm hearing is there is not overwhelming support for my idea about advancing gender equality by growing babies in bags??? https://t.co/Ut2NVAhKfD

@TIME "I hope we spark something," says a Missoula airport worker who staged a walkout to protest low wages and dangerous conditions--and then got fired. https://t.co/DxjRKk5iAO

I must say @alexandracooper is one of the most complicated yet open and intelligent people I've ever interviewed. She knows that sex sells—Spotify just paid a reported $60M for her podcast @callherdaddy. But now she wants to have a deeper conversation https://t.co/QHZIJV02ra

A century ago, widespread labor unrest forced companies to treat workers better. Could the same thing be happening now? My story on work on the cover of @TIME https://t.co/7X3iOPl9Y6

For our @TIME cover on Rethinking Work, artist Peter Arkle captured the literal "signs of our times" - the ever-present HELP WANTED sign. Read @AlanaSemuels cover story: there are 9.2 million jobs open – why nobody wants them. https://t.co/huxAobsM39 https://t.co/KX9mjmvi6a

One of the many reveals of this wonderful though depressing piece: Organic Girl lettuce is a sham. https://t.co/N2RI94uiTZ

Anyway, whatever happened to The End of Men? https://t.co/IenUkxtJC1

Not surprisingly, Pact, the apparel company trying to convince me on Instagram that a dress is more comfortable than sweatpants, is run by a man who was on Survivor! I kept imagining him confidently pitching the female CEO of Ross Dress for Less on 'disrupting apparel.'

Here are some businesses that are NOT run by women: Annie’s Homegrown, Briannas Salad Dressing, Mary’s Gone Crackers, Libby’s Pumpkin, Mom’s Spaghetti Sauce. Organic Girl produce, whose co-founder is on the board of Capitol Ministries, which doesn't let women teach Bible study.

"We are trying to revolutionize transportation,” the Boring Company said at a rushed LA hearing to approve a tunnel. “We don't want to get bogged down. We won’t take any approach that doesn’t get us to our goal as quickly as possible." https://t.co/U68EqjBHo3

New from me: Fort Lauderdale needed a train tunnel. City emails show how over the course of seven months, and multiple trips across the country, Elon Musk's The Boring Company convinced the city to start with a $30 million Loop for Teslas. https://t.co/nOPjWaDCoB

The Boring Company is basically just a run-of-the mill construction and drilling company except that it is super secretive and was founded by Elon Musk https://t.co/hv8z3wNexe

“If the burden of making it simple doesn’t come to the manufacturer," a Maine council member told me, recycling "isn't going to work." His town has seen mounting recycling bills because of all the non-recyclables consumers toss in.
