Fun Fact

Everyword is a Twitter account created by Adam Parrish in December 2007 to share every word in the English language on Twitter. Since then, this account has tweeted 84k+ words.

Just a reminder that this is a deeply and cruelly unhealthy, dysfunctional, unequal society, and that not only do you deserve better but that better is possible.

It’s not ideal that a month and a half after the inauguration we’re all just waiting to see if tomorrow a completely off-the-rails conspiracy that millions believe will inspire people to carry out violence. Not exactly conducive to a healthy, shared society.

Throwing deep fake videos into an already poisonous swamp of conspiracy theories, slanderous grifts, and out and out lies sold by malevolent, fascist actors and corporations dependent on paranoia, anger, and division seems like a recipe for unthinkable disaster.

Political systems based in cruel inequality rely on fear, intimidation, and violence for survival. The people profiting off this broken world need you to feel alone and powerless and convinced nothing could ever change for the better. It isn’t true. https://t.co/b9rtw09HT3

“It is no coincidence that, as calls for reform gain purchase, the violence and intimidation in this country has gotten worse. This is [power’s] only move beyond the warping of reality. “—@jysexton https://t.co/LJvT7RzSCE

We live in a time where change feels impossible and the awful cruelty and inequality of this world can seem insurmountable. Those in power have worked very, very hard to make us feel this way and it's the only means they have of maintaining control. https://t.co/b9rtw09HT3

Quoted @travisakers

JUST IN: Governor Greg Abbott has rescinded the Texas state mask mandate. He has also signed an order that states all businesses can reopen to 100% capacity.

It's almost like, and hear me out here, the Republican Party is uninterested in protecting even the people who vote for them and only concerned with aggressive, symbolic gestures while advocating for the wealthy and powerful to become even wealthier and even more powerful. https://t.co/fVtrNw4g2g

The old stories of American Exceptionalism and meritocracies in politics and economics are disintegrating, leaving confusion, anger, and a sense that reality isn’t what it has seemed. The time is ripe to investigate actual power, find a realer reality, and build a better future.

All of this, from Trumpism to QAnon to our pop culture obsession with hidden forces and shadowy villains, is a reckoning with the fact the mythologies and stories that have been used to control us are fading and real power is being exposed.

Maybe, considering millions of Americans are either drowning in fascistic conspiracy theories and everyone else is obsessed with shows about hidden forces and villains manipulating reality, it’s time to look behind the curtain at the wealthy and powerful controlling our politics.

Continuing to pretend like any of this is normal or all right is only going to give them more room to work and fester. We're in the middle of something right now, not the end, and people need to get serious about what's happening in this country and where we're headed.

To be clear, it doesn't matter how much handwringing journalists, pundits, and politicians want to do, the GOP is a fascist movement with no purpose beyond destroying liberal democracy, dismantling government as a public good, and pursuing more power and more profit.

It's...not great when a discussion about one of the two major parties in your country includes golden idols, Nazi runes, and the fact that they have no political platform besides wanting to disenfranchise and oppress anyone who disagrees with them. https://t.co/fXbqos465O

With the Republicans, there is no organizing philosophy beyond war against the other and rewinding any gains made for bipoc, women, lgbtq, and anyone they see as a threat to their continued power. This isn't a political party. It's a fascist movement gaining steam.

There is no *there* there. Republicans have become a movement powered by aggrievement, rage, and only motivated by the dismantling of government, the disenfranchising of people of color, and the continued protection and promotion of white, patriarchal, corporate supremacy.

CPAC and its embrace of Trump made it abundantly clear what so many of us have been saying. The GOP is no longer a party with an actual ideology or platform, but an incredibly dangerous fascist movement obsessed with power and the pursuit of profit. https://t.co/XoFDpkfmgZ
