8yo [Yesterday]: I learned about a Black musical person who was blind, but I can't remember his name. Me: Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder? 8yo: Ray Charles, yes! But who is Stevie Wonder? Me: Wait till tomorrow. 8yo [Today]: HOW DID YOU KNOW I'D LEARN ABOUT STEVIE WONDER TODAY?

Thom Tillis is worried that not enough people will want to be cops if cops can't shoot Black people with impunity.

The fact that there are WHITE parents who haven't experienced this is actually white people TELLING ON THEMSELVES.

It didn't take me long to realize I had to PRE-READ all Seuss stories, even ones I *thought* I knew well, before actually sharing them with my kids.

Just to put a pin in the Seuss thing, there is not a Black parent my age THAT I KNOW who hasn't had the unique experience of opening a "new" Seuss story, starting to read it, and realizing that it's TOO RACIST TO CONTINUE and changing it on the fly in front of the kids.

Six Dr. Seuss books — including “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” and “If I Ran the Zoo” — will stop being published because of racist and insensitive imagery, the business that preserves and protects the author's legacy said. https://t.co/FB2boW7ao0

I feel like it's being missed that the people who profit from Dr. Seuss are the ones making the decision not to publish anymore his most racist stuff. HOW IS THIS NOT "THE MARKETPLACE OF IDEAS" working AS INTENDED???? https://t.co/SEKkpr69Ep

This literally just happened at the Supreme Court ⬇️ Justice Barrett: What is the interest of the GOP in keeping (laws that suppress minority voters) on the books? Republican Lawyer: It puts us at a competitive disadvantage relative to Democrats. Politics is a zero-sum game.

Chris Wray is being question by Josh Hawley. I really want the next Senator to ask Wray "When are you going to arrest that man?" But, you know, there are reasons I'm not a Democratic Senator.

Grassley is literally attempting the "both the same" nonsense when he calls Antifascists the same as white supremacists in this hearing. People DEFENDING themselves from fascists and hate are not the same as those that want them dead. #Jan6Hearing

5yo [in another room]: Fly! [crash] Fly already. [crash]. What is wrong with you? Me [already fairly sure what he’s doing]: What are you doing? 5yo: I’m trying to make one of these brooms fly. Me: Off the couch? 5yo: Yes. Me: ... okay.

An actual consistent topic of conversation with my friends is "which horrible conservative will get to destroy which particular social policy." Like we're trying to game out which of our neighbors will murder us. :(

Ben Sasse is the high school history teacher who only took the job because he wants to coach the basketball team and gives all the black kids Cs because they wrote about slavery on their final paper without mentioning Abraham Lincoln.

Merrick Garland’s nomination approved by Senate Judiciary, with Grassley, Graham, Cornyn and Tillis voting with Democrats to advance the pick to the floor. Sasse, Lee, Hawley, Cotton, Kennedy, Cruz and Blackburn voted NO

This is promising. Durbin opens door to ending blue slips on district court nominees if Republicans systemically block candidates of color in Southern states like they did under Obama: "I am not going to let the blue slip perpetuate prejudice in America" https://t.co/PKTA2UydPl

Blue slips were literally designed to "perpetuate prejudice." Southern Senators invented them to anonymously oppose judges committed to upholding Brown v. Board of Ed. https://t.co/a3ZnngyusQ
